This gene encodes a cell surface receptor necessary for cellular iron uptake by the process of receptor-mediated endocytosis. This receptor is required for erythropoiesis and neurologic development. Multiple alternatively spliced variants have been identified.
Flow cytometry: 1X10 6 Human PBMC (untreated,left) and Human PBMC (treated with PHA for 3 days,right) were surface-stained with APC/Cyanine7 Rabbit anti-Human CD71 mAb (A27968,5 µl/Test,orange line) or APC/Cyanine7 Rabbit IgG isotype control (5 µl/Test,blue line). Non-fluorescently stained cells were used as blank control (red line). Cells in the lymphocyte gate were used for analysis.
