Integrin alpha V beta 6 is a heterodimer of beta6 associating with alphaV. Integrin alphaV beta6 is a receptor for fibronectin and cytotactin. It recognizes the sequence RGD in its ligands. Internalisation of integrin alphaV beta6 via clathrinmediated endocytosis promotes carcinoma cell invasion. Also, Integrin alphaV beta6 acts as a receptor for coxsackievirus A9 and coxsackievirus B1 as well as herpes simplex virus1/HHV1. Furthermore, it binds the TGFbeta latency-associated peptide (LAP) and activates TGFbeta 1 or TGFbeta 3 from large latent complexes. This activation requires interaction with LTBP1 and fibronectin, and is enhanced by PAR1. - Proteine/Peptide
