FTCD is a bifunctional enzyme that channels 1-carbon units from formiminoglutamate, a metabolite of the histidine degradation pathway, to the folate pool.

The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP6646c was selected from the Center region of human FTCD. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
