PAX8 is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. Members of this family contain a paired box domain, an octapeptide, and a paired-type homeodomain. This nuclear protein is involved in thyroid follicular cell development and expression of thyroid-specific genes.

The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP6874c was selected from the Center region of human PAX8. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
