C6 is a component of complement cascade. It is part of the membrane attack complex which can insert into the cell membrane and cause cell to lyse. People with C6 deficiency are prone to bacterial infection.

The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP6937a was selected from the N-term region of human C6. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
