ELN is one of the two components of elastic fibers. This protein is rich in hydrophobic amino acids such as glycine and proline, which form mobile hydrophobic regions bounded by crosslinks between lysine residues.

The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP8594c was selected from the Center region of human ELN. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
