R-PE (R-Phycoerythrin) is a phycobiliprotein that can be isolated from Heterosiphonia japonica and is also an effective fluorescent probe containing four subunits carrying chromophores that show extremely bright red-orange fluorescence. (lambdaex=496 nm, lambdaem=578 nm).
