Lauroyl-L-carnitine chloride is an amphiphilic compound capable of forming micelles. Lauroyl-L-carnitine chloride enhances absorption by reducing solution surface tension, thereby increasing the dissolution and diffusion of compounds and bioactive molecules within the gastrointestinal tract of experimental animals. Furthermore, as a transport carrier for long-chain fatty acids (such as lauric acid), lauroyl-L-carnitine chloride facilitates the entry of fatty acids into mitochondria for beta-oxidation. Lauroyl-L-carnitine chloride can be used as an absorption enhancer.
