Phenoxodiol is a synthetic genestein analogue that activates the mitochondrial caspase system and inhibits XIAP, an inhibitor of apoptosis, making cancer cells sensitive to FAS - mediated apoptosis. Phenoxodiol also inhibits DNA topoisomerase II by stabilizing cleavable complexes, thereby preventing DNA replication.
