Ophiopogonin D, isolated from the tuber of Ophiopogon japonicus, is a rare naturally occurring C29 steroid glycoside. Ophiopogonin D has cytotoxic activity against two human tumor cell lines mG-63 and SNU387. Ophiopogonin D can induce necrotic apoptosis of prostate cancer LNCaP cells by activating RIPK1. IC50 were 3.09 µM and 3.63 µM, respectively. SIRT1 is activated in a dose-dependent manner by Ophiopogonin D.
