Application Notes:
The kit provides a simple method for detecting FC concentration in a variety of biological samples such as serum, plasma, tissues, cells, and bacteria. In the assay, Cholesterol oxidase catalyzes free cholesterol (FC) to produce 4-cholestenone and H2O2. Further, H2O2, 4-aminoantipyrine and phenol can be catalyzed by peroxidase to form red quinone compounds which has a characteristic absorption peak at 500 nm. The Free Cholesterol (FC) present in the sample is proportional to the signal obtained.
