Fluorescamine is nonfluorescent until it reacts with primary amines. The reaction is completed in miniseconds and can be used to detect amine-containing compounds including peptides and proteins. Unreacted fluorescamine is rapidly converted to a non-fluorescent product by reaction with water, making amine detection highly specific. &lamba,Ex/&lamba, Em(CH3CN) = 381/470 nm (for reaction product with amines) Off-white solid soluble in DMF or DMSO Store at -20C and protect from light C17H10O4 MW: 278.26
