TunR2 is a tunicamycin derivative antibiotic with potent activity against B. subtilis (MIC 0.3 µg/ml) and synergistic effects with beta-lactam antibiotics. Unlike tunicamycin, it exhibits low cytotoxicity in yeast and mammalian cells and does not inhibit protein N-glycosylation, making it a valuable tool for studying bacterial cell wall synthesis and antibiotic resistance mechanisms.
