TunR1 is a tunicamycin-derived antibiotic active against B. subtilis and potentiates beta-lactam efficacy. It exhibits cytotoxicity against breast cancer and CHO cells but, unlike tunicamycin, does not inhibit protein N-glycosylation. This makes it a useful research tool for studying antibiotic synergy and cytotoxicity mechanisms in vitro.
