Galectin-3-IN-6 (Compound 12) is an orally active galectin-3 (Gal-3) inhibitor, with an IC50 of 12 nM and a Kd of 13 nM for Gal-3. In a CCl4-induced mouse model of acute liver injury and fibrosis, Galectin-3-IN-6 significantly reduces fibrosis markers collagen-1 and alpha-smooth muscle actin (alphaSMA) by 64% and 71%, respectively, demonstrating notable anti-fibrotic activity. Galectin-3-IN-6 is applicable for research in fibrosis-related diseases, cancer, and cardiovascular disorders.
