Yeast surface display (YSD) is a eukaryotic protein expression system that involves fusing exogenous target protein genes with specific vector gene sequences and introducing them into yeast cells. The target protein is expressed and localized on the surface of yeast cells using the intracellular protein transport mechanism. The yeast surface display system is widely used on the surface of mammalian cells and secreted proteins (such as receptors and cytokines), which require specific processing and translation by the endoplasmic reticulum in order to effectively fold and display activity.
