Blebbistatin is a potent, selective, reversible, cell-permeable inhibitor of non-muscle myosin II (IC50 ~4 mM).1,2 During cell division it inhibits contraction of the cleavage furrow without disrupting mitosis.1 Blocks cell blebbing (hence its name) and rapidly disrupts directed cell migration and cytokinesis in many cell types.1 It promotes neurite outgrowth3 and is neuroprotective against vincristine-induced neurotoxicity in iPSC-derived neurons4.
