Florfenicol is a fluoro-analog of thiamphenicol and is a broad-spectrum antibiotic1,2 which is widely used in animal health3. It interferes with bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the70S ribosome.4 Extensive use in aquaculture, livestock and poultry farming has led to an increase in bacterial antibiotic resistance and facilitated the spread of resistance genes.4 Suppresses LPS-stimulated splenocyte proliferation and impairs immune responses in mice.5
