Chemical Name: N-Octanoyl-D-erythro-dihydrosphingosine. Alternate Names: C8-dhCer
Negative control for C8-Ceramide
Molecular Weight:
427.71
Purity:
>98% by TLC NMR (Conforms)
Form:
White to off-white solid
CAS Number:
[145774-33-0]
Formula:
C26H53NO3
Application Notes:
C8-dihydroceramide is a cell permeable, saturated ceramide analog. Unlike C8-Cer it does not stimulate ceramide-activated protein kinase1 nor does it induce apoptosis2 and therefore may be used as a negative control in experiments focused on the cellular activity of C8-ceramide3. C8-dhCer is a substrate for dihydroceramide desaturase.4
