Crofelemer acts on the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) and calcium-activated chloride channels (CACC) , which are responsible for chloride and fluid secretion in the gastrointestinal tract. Crofelemer can be used in the research of diarrheal diseases[1].
