JNJ-37822681 has high specificity for D2 receptors and is effective in animal models, inducing increased levels of extracellular serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the rat cerebral cortex, and exhibiting antidepressant activity in the mouse tail suspension test, while having a good brain distribution and lower prolactin release.
