Fenquizone (MG-13054) is an orally active diuretic. Fenquizone acts primarily on the diluting segment of the nephron cortex, similar to thiazide diuretics. Fenquizone demonstrates diuretic and natriuretic potency and duration of action comparable to thiazide diuretics but weaker than loop diuretics. Fenquizone reduces CH2O without affecting TCH2O, does not increase calcium/phosphate excretion, and has no loop or collecting duct effects. Fenquizone is used in the study of edema and hypertension[1].
