Desfuroylceftiofur is an antibacterial agent and the primary, most prevalent microbiologically active metabolite of ceftiofur with an intact beta-lactam ring. Desfuroylceftiofur exhibits in vitro activity against Gram-negative veterinary pathogens, common equine pathogens and Gram-positive veterinary pathogens.
