Ascorbyl tetra-2-hexyldecanoate (tetra-isopalmitoyl Ascorbic acid, IPAA, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate) is a lipophilic vitamin C derivative that shows stable properties in skin cosmetic formulations and can be converted into vitamin C by skin esterases. Ascorbyl tetra-2-hexyldecanoate eliminates UVB-induced elevation of intracellular peroxides, enhances oxidative stress tolerance of keratinocytes, reduces UVB-induced production of IL-1alpha and PGE2, inhibits melanocyte proliferation, releases vitamin C in reconstructed skin, increases skin moisture content, improves skin micro-texture, and reduces aging-related periorbital wrinkles[1][2][3].
