Abeta aggregation modulator-1 is a stimulator of amyloid-beta (Abeta) fibrillogenesis. Abeta aggregation modulator-1 binds hydrophobic residues in Abeta peptides and stabilizes beta-sheet-rich protofibrils and fibrils. Abeta aggregation modulator-1 accelerates Abeta polymerization and reduces concentrations of small, toxic Abeta oligomers in heterogeneous aggregation reactions. Abeta aggregation modulator-1 suppresses long-term potentiation (LTP) inhibition by Abeta oligomers in hippocampal brain slices. Abeta aggregation modulator-1 can be used for the study of Alzheimers disease (AD)[1].
