Pt (II) protoporphyrin IX is a Pt (II)-containing metalloporphyrin complex with strong phosphorescent properties, whose lowest excited singlet state has a lifetime much shorter than 8 ps and negligible fluorescence. Pt (II) protoporphyrin IX undergoes rapid intersystem crossing from the lowest excited singlet state to populate the lowest excited triplet state[1].
