Deferasirox methyl ester (compound 6a), a derivative of Deferasirox (HY-17359), is an antimicrobial agent. Deferasirox methyl ester exhibits activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger with MICs of 0.5, 4.0, 1.0, 4.0, and 2.0 µg/mL, respectively. Deferasirox methyl ester can be used for antimicrobial research[1].
