Fibrin is an insoluble protein isolated from bovine blood that is produced in response to bleeding. As the main component of blood clots, fibrin functions in blood coagulation. Fibrin binds to the integrins ICAM-1, VE-cadherin, alphaIIbbeta3, alphaMbeta2, alphavbeta3 and alpha5beta1. Fibrin is used in research related to chronic wounds[1].
