Eupolauridine (Canangine) is a selective DNA topoisomerase II inhibitor with IC50 values of 20 µM for fungal topoisomerase I and 33 µM for human topoisomerase I. Eupolauridine exerts antifungal activity by inhibiting the catalytic activity of topoisomerase II and stabilizing its cleavage complex with DNA, leading to DNA damage.
