Glaucarubin is a bitter lactone found in Simaruba glauca. Glaucarubin can be used as an ambicide for amebiasis research. Glaucarubin is well tolerated, with LD50s of 1,600 mg/kg for mice and 6,400 mg/kg for rats[1][2].
