Gymnemic acid I is a ribosomal protein biosynthesis inhibitor. Gymnemic acid I has antidiabetic effects. Gymnema acid I induces autophagy-protected MIN-6 cells from apoptosis under high glucose stress by inhibiting the phosphorylation activity of mTOR[1][2].
