4-Methyldaphnetin, coumarin derivative, is a brain-penetrant lipid peroxidation inhibitor with an IC50 of 2.8 µM. 4-Methyldaphnetin scavenges superoxide and alkylperoxyl radicals, functions as a pro-oxidant in the presence of free iron ions, and does not inhibit eicosanoid generation in rat peritoneal leukocytes. 4-Methyldaphnetin can be used for the research of Alzheimers disease[2].
