Rusfertide is a peptide mimetic of natural hepcidin, which targets and degrades ferroportin, reduces serum iron and transferrin-saturation, and thus regulates the production of red blood cells. Rusfertide ameliorates the polycythemia vera, beta-thalassemia and hereditary hemochromatosis[1][2].
