AcrAP2 is an antimicrobial peptide present in the venom of the Arabian scorpion (Androctonus crassicauda). AcrAP2 is inhibitory against Gram-positive bacteria and yeast but is essentially inactive against Gram-negative bacteria. A cation-enhanced AcrAP2 analog (AcrAP2a) exhibits significant antiproliferative effects at low concentrations against certain human cancer cell lines. AcrAP2 can be used in antibacterial and anti-tumor research[1].
