Cardiogen is a short biologically active peptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg) that does not bind single-stranded deoxyribooligonucleotides, slightly quenches fluorescence of some double-stranded deoxyribooligonucleotides, strongly quenches fluorescence of methylated and unmethylated lambda phage DNA-ethidium bromide complexes[1].
