exo-beta-1,4-Xylosidase, Cellulosimicrobium cellulans sp. 21 is a multifunctional glycoside hydrolase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of nitrophenyl-beta-D-xyloside. In addition, exo-beta-1,4-Xylosidase, Cellulosimicrobium cellulans sp. 21 also exhibits general catalytic activity toward p-nitrophenyl-alpha-L-arabinofuranoside and p-nitrophenyl-beta-D-glucoside. exo-beta-1,4-Xylosidase, Cellulosimicrobium cellulans sp. 21 can completely hydrolyze xylobiose, xylotriose, xylotetraose and xylohexaose, producing xylose as the sole product. exo-beta-1,4-Xylosidase, Cellulosimicrobium cellulans sp. 21 acts synergistically with Thermomyces lanuginosus xylanase to release xylose from xylooligosaccharides generated by beechwood xylan degradation. The activity of exo-beta-1,4-Xylosidase, Cellulosimicrobium cellulans sp. 21 is activated in the presence of K+ and Na+ ions, making it widely applicable to studies related to hemicellulose degradation[1].
