RuvC protein is an important component of the RuvA-RuvB-RuvC complex and is essential for the processing of Holliday junctions in gene recombination and DNA repair. As an endonuclease, RuvC resolves Holliday junctions by generating symmetric single-stranded nicks that rely on a central homology core.
