The PITHD1 protein is a key regulator of cell dynamics, specifically promoting megakaryocyte differentiation by upregulating RUNX1 expression. It does this by activating the proximal promoter of the RUNX1 gene and enhancing the translational activity of the internal ribosome entry site (IRES) element.
