Transthyretin inhibits Abeta1-42 fibrillization and is a potential target for amyloidosis and Alzheimers disease. Transthyretin mutations (such as V30M) can destabilize the tetramer and promote the formation of amyloid fibrils in monomers, causing hereditary amyloidosis transthyretin (ATTRv).
