The RCVRN protein is a calcium sensor that regulates phototransduction in cone and rod photoreceptors, enhancing the light sensitivity of cone photoreceptors in dark conditions. Under low light, it prolongs RHO/rhodopsin activation in rod photoreceptor cells by inhibiting GRK1-mediated phosphorylation.
