IFN-gamma is a type II interferon derived from immune cells such as T cells and NK cells that crucially activates antibacterial, antiviral and antitumor responses through the JAK-STAT pathway and its receptor IFNGR1 .Binding opens the intracellular domain of IFNGR1, activating downstream components (JAK2, JAK1, STAT1), leading to STAT1 activation, nuclear translocation, and transcription of IFNG-regulated genes.
