CDNF (cerebral dopamine neurotrophic factor) emerges as a key trophic factor for dopamine neurons that counteracts 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced degeneration. Notably, it can restore dopaminergic function and prevent nigral neuronal degeneration after 6-OHDA injury.
