The MAN1A2 protein is crucially involved in the maturation of Asn-linked oligosaccharides, which in turn trims alpha-1,2-linked mannose residues from Man(9)GlcNAc(2) to generate Man(5)GlcNAc(2). During glycosylation, MAN1A2 plays a key role in the progressive trimming of mannose residues that are essential for generating mature glycan structures.
