The IL-33 protein is part of the IL-1 family, a different cytokine that is critical in immune responses and inflammation. IL-33 acts through its receptor ST2 to promote the activation and recruitment of immune cells such as Th2 cells, mast cells, and eosinophils to sites of inflammation.
