PSCA protein plays a role in the regulation of cell proliferation and has shown an inhibitory effect on cell proliferation in vitro. In addition, PSCA may act as a modulator of nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) activity, specifically inhibiting nicotine-induced signaling in vitro, possibly affecting alpha-3:beta-2 or alpha-7-containing nAChRs.
