The SLPI protein is an acid-stable protease inhibitor that has shown strong affinity for trypsin, chymotrypsin, elastase, and cathepsin G in multiple studies. It plays a critical regulatory role in inflammatory and immune responses following bacterial infection and Listeria monocytogenes infection.
