Glucosamine 6-sulfate (GlcN6P, D-Glucosamine-6-sulfate) is an amino sugar phosphate and a key intermediate metabolite in the bacterial cell wall synthesis pathway. In Enterobacteriaceae bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella, glucosamine 6-sulfate acts as a metabolic sensor and maintains intracellular homeostasis through a complex sRNA regulatory system. Glucosamine 6-sulfate serves as an organic cofactor in ribozymes to directly participate in RNA-catalyzed chemical reactions. Deficiency of glucosamine 6-sulfate activates the GlmY/GlmZ resistance pathway, so glucosamine 6-sulfate and its analogs can serve as antibacterial targets[1][2].
