4-Methoxycoumarin is a coumarin derivative with multiple biological activities. 4-Methoxycoumarin exhibits excellent inhibitory effects on soil-borne pathogens such as Rhizoctonia solani, it also shows certain inhibitory activity against pathogens causing bacterial plant diseases. 4-Methoxycoumarin not only directly inactivates Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) virions, but also efficiently activates the salicylic acid signaling pathway in plants to induce systemic resistance. 4-Methoxycoumarin also possesses anti-melanoma activity[1][2][3][4].
