Product Description

3-Methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one (3-Methyl-2-cyclohexenone) is a cyclic alpha-oxo olefin. When 3-Methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one undergoes ozonolysis with 1 molar equivalent of ozone in pentane at -78°C, it generates an unstable alpha-oxo ozonide intermediate. This reaction exhibits high regioselectivity, producing only cyclopentene-type ozonides. In addition, the cis-trans isomers of triozonides can be identified by 1H NMR, where the hydrogen on the ozonide ring of the trans isomer shows a more downfield chemical shift than that of the cis isomer[1].
