Trihexyl phosphate is an organophosphate flame retardant. Trihexyl phosphate causes mitochondrial impairment and induces cell apoptosis in CHO cells. Trihexyl phosphate promotes the proliferation of human breast cancer cells (MCF-7) in a dose-dependent manner and exerts estrogenicity via ERalpha-independent pathways[1].
